Vintage Marshall JCM 800 Lead Series 1960A 4x12 angled speaker cabinet from the early 1980s, loaded with four UK-made Celestion G12-65 speakers.

This is the desirable early 260-watt / 16-ohm version of the Marshall 1960A, fitted with vintage Celestion G12-65s rather than the later G12T-75 speakers.

The cabinet retains the classic early JCM 800 appearance, including the black Levant covering, large Marshall logo, JCM 800 Lead Series badge and original-style recessed side handles.

The G12-65 is one of the most highly regarded vintage Celestion speakers from the late ’70s / early ’80s period. Compared with later G12T-75-loaded Marshall cabinets, these speakers have a warmer and smoother top end, strong mids and a tight but musical low end. They work particularly well for classic rock, hard rock and traditional heavy metal tones.

Condition

The cabinet is in good vintage condition and shows genuine age-related wear, including scuffs, marks and some wear to the rear covering. The grille cloth, Marshall logo, handles and corner protectors present very well for its age. The speaker chassis show normal oxidation/patina consistent with vintage Celestions.
