PRODUCT OVERVIEWIntroduced in 1977, the Marantz 2252B belongs to Marantz's late-1970s line of high-power stereo receivers, combining an AM/FM tuner with a 52 W-per-channel amplifier rated into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.Its front panel offers bass, mid and treble controls, two phono inputs, tape copy in both directions between two tape decks, FM muting and selectable System 1 / System 2 speaker outputs, with signal-strength and FM tuning meters above the dial.This unit has a black faceplate and is supplied in a WC-22-style walnut wood case made by HQaudios. It has been inspected, serviced, and tested by HQaudios. The photos show the actual unit you will receive.3. HQAUDIOS RESTORATION & TESTINGBefore RestorationWhen we received this Marantz 2252B, we performed a complete visual, mechanical, electrical, and functional inspection before beginning the restoration process.We checked the front panel, controls, switches, meters, dial lamps, speaker terminals, input and output jacks, power cord, chassis, and the internal power-supply, amplifier, and preamplifier circuits.Inspection Findings: The front-panel switches needed cleaning, the dial lamps and the FM stereo indicator lamp were due for replacement, and the capacitors in the preamplifier section were aged. Components in the amplifier circuitry were also scheduled for replacement.The inspection results were used to determine the work required for this specific unit.During RestorationBased on the inspection results, this Marantz 2252B was serviced according to HQaudios' technical standards while preserving the original Marantz circuit design and character.Preamplifier Section: The preamplifier section was recapped.Replaced Components: Our technicians replaced four 470 µF/100 V electrolytic capacitors, four 2SA1837 and four 2SC4793 transistors, and ten 562 pF capacitors.Lamps: The dial lamps and the FM stereo indicator lamp were replaced with LEDs.Switches: The front-panel switches were cleaned for reliable contact.After Restoration / Final TestingOnce service was completed, the receiver underwent final functional and listening tests.Amplifier Output: Both channels were checked for proper output on System 1 and System 2.Inputs: Phono, tuner, aux and tape monitor inputs were checked on both channels.Tuner: AM and FM reception, the signal-strength and FM tuning meters, and the FM stereo indicator were checked.Controls: Selector, tone, balance and volume controls and the front-panel switches were operated through their full range.Listening Test: The receiver was evaluated with real music playback to confirm overall performance.Final QC: Only after completing HQaudios' service and testing process was the unit approved and prepared for its next owner.4.
