About this listing
Bo Diddley, a pioneer of rock 'n' roll and blues, was always known for his idiosyncratic guitar creations. Sometimes as a simply square, sometimes with a tail fin which is a reminiscent of a street cruiser from the 1950s. It was in 1959 when Bo designed this striking design that the Gretsch company is now launching as a signature reissue. But what does this curious Gretsch guitar have to do with Texas rocker Billy Gibbons? You actually associate this bearded gentleman with the usual guitar models."Some time ago, Bo gave me the guitar as a gift. It was during the recent ZZ Top recordings, when the engineering crew and I snaked through the guitar vault searching for that certain-something guitar, and there it was! We didn't risk subjecting such a rare instrument to the rigors of the road. So this new reproduction model was recreated with some BFG mojo thrown in for good measure. It's now the main stage guitar with a groove." Billy F. GibbonsAnd indeed: The two TV Jones Power'Trons are made for the ZZ Top sound. Texas rock pure! And with "Billy Bo" this cool guitar was given a suitable name, which signals an close connection between the two legendary musicians.Let's have a final word: If you are totally into Bo Diddley's style, of course you also can have it rectangular! Just look ahead at the Guitar Place websites: The Gretsch G 6138 Bo Diddley.
