Overview

Struggling to compete with Fender's new fretted basses, the BB-4 was Ampeg's failed attempt at creating an upright bass that could compete with the times. It featured a composite body similar to Supros of the time and a new piezo-style bridge design that attempted to replicate the sound of an acoustic bass.

Years of Production: 1962-72
