As we approach the end of another year of excellent and innovative effect pedal releases, it's just about that time again to ask our resident guitar god Andy Martin what his favorites of the year have been.
As with previous years, Andy is not choosing from an exhaustive list of every effect pedal released over the last 12 months, just those that he's had the opportunity to get enough hands-on time with to make a lasting impression. And while this is technically a top five video, Andy also includes a handful of honorable mentions.
Some of the highlights this year include Third Man Hardware's collaborative efforts with both Eventide (on the Knife Drop sub-octave fuzz) and Anasounds (on the La Grotte reverb). Both releases highlight the best aspects of each respective brand in a package and style distinct to Third Man.
Another favorite on the year has been the Chroma Console by Hologram Electronics, which quickly rose to become an overall bestselling pedal on Reverb this year. Drawing players in with its colorful and eye-catching design, the Chroma Console offers nearly endless flexibility, functionality, and tweakability for players after a multieffect that can really do it all.
These are only a few of the pedals mentioned in Andy's list, so be sure to check out the full video above to see which others made the cut. All of the pedals mentioned in the video are available now, so click any of the links below to grab your own right here on Reverb.
