Yamaha CS-80 – Extensively Serviced | Exceptional Original Condition | Collector's ExampleOpportunities to acquire a Yamaha CS-80 in this condition are becoming increasingly rare.This instrument comes from a private vintage synthesizer collection and has been comprehensively serviced to address the well-known reliability issues associated with the model, while remaining remarkably original cosmetically.Technical ConditionThis CS-80 has undergone extensive preventative servicing by a specialist technician, including:Rebuilt power supply with modern capacitors.Replacement of all failure-prone tantalum capacitors with modern equivalents.Replacement of every 4000-series logic IC across all logic boards, with all new ICs installed in sockets for easier future servicing.In total, well over 100 components have been replaced, representing more than 200 hours of professional technician work.The result is an exceptionally reliable CS-80 with the common age-related electronic issues already addressed.The only known fault is that the aftertouch on the highest G key does not respond. The key itself functions perfectly and plays normally—only the aftertouch sensor for that single key is affected.Aside from this one issue, every voice, function, switch, slider, button, and key operates correctly.Cosmetic ConditionCosmetically, this is one of the nicest CS-80s you are likely to find.The instrument retains its original tolex, which is in excellent condition with only light signs of use consistent with its age.
