This build is based on the classic two-knob Fuzz Face fuzz topology. Historically, the Fuzz Face was first issued by Arbiter Electronics in 1966; early units used germanium transistors (later versions also appeared with silicon).
This pedal is a handwired, Fuzz Face-lineage interpretation. The core identity of this unit is its 1970s Soviet germanium devices and the traditional germanium Fuzz Face playing feel.
Dynamics & cleanup: Highly responsive to pick attack and the guitar’s volume control; rolling back your guitar volume can reduce gain and move toward cleaner / edge-of-breakup textures while keeping full fuzz available at max.
Pickup & front-end interaction: The Fuzz Face’s characteristically low input impedance makes it very sensitive to pickups and what’s placed in front of it; behavior can change if it’s not placed early in the chain or if a buffer precedes it.
Germanium variability: Germanium transistor leakage is temperature-dependent, which can shift bias and subtly change feel/tone as the unit warms up or cools down—part of the authentic germanium fuzz experience.
9V DC, center-negative polarity (negative ground)
