Here's another SPECIAL one for you - it becomes harder and harder to find the old Les Paul Juniors and Specials these days without any cracks, breaks or repairs but we've found another one right here!
This guitar was part of "The Sisters": Two Gibson Les Paul Special guitars, one cherry red and the other TV yellow, built together in 1961 in the Gibson Kalamazoo factory in MI, USA. These are only a few serial numbers apart: 2351 and 2325. Full owner history known!
This is the Cherry one with serial 2351. As per usual this is an incredible sounding battle axe with great dynamics & powerful attack. And with 3,7Kg this guitar has a nice weight and it's super comfortable to play for long periods of time and very easy to handle. This guitar looks and sounds amazing and the immaculate finish and wear on the body show it has been loved and caressed for over 65 years. The cherry nitro is still very vibrant and the finish shows little wear and checking. The back of the neck has some more wear to it and it fits your hand like an old glove. It's more meaty then the usual 60-61 neck!
The two original P90's deliver a punchy, ballsy rock tone that seem to sustain for days and have a lot of bite and aggressive power. The neck has a nice and comfortable feel and plays easy and effortlessly. The nice dark rosewood fretboard has some wear which is understandable but nothing that you can feel during playing. The headstock face has no silkscreen "Les Paul Special" which shows its the transitional 1960/1961 model. It has no cracks, breaks or repairs and the cherry finish shows a beautiful warm deep red gloss and craquelé on the body and neck. The body has a very cool and distinctive wood grain on the top which makes it stand out beautifully.
Everything on this guitar is original: single line Kluson deluxe strip tuners, black reflector knobs, P90 pickups and covers, Centralab EA811-1053 pots dated 134936, wiring loom, bumblebee capacitors, trussrod cover, pickguard, plastics, jack output and cover, pots cavity cover etc. The Special comes in a recent sturdy Les Paul case, not the 50's Burst case pictured :-)
