Gibson Custom 1939 SJ-100 Heavy Aged - Faded Vintage Sunburst
Stepping into the golden era of acoustic design, the Gibson Custom 1939 SJ-100 is a powerhouse instrument that breathes with the soul of a pre-war legend. This "Super Jumbo" was originally designed as a more accessible sibling to the SJ-200, but it quickly carved out its own identity with its sophisticated, understated aesthetics and thunderous projection. At its heart lies a top of Adirondack (Red) Spruce, a tonewood famed for its incredible stiffness and "velocity of sound". This high-performance spruce remains clear and well-defined no matter how hard you dig in, offering a complex, nuanced tone that refuses to break up even at high volume levels
The body is crafted from high-quality Mahogany, providing a warm, focused fundamental that balances the massive output of the Super Jumbo shape. This combination creates a "dry," woody punch that has made the SJ-100 a favorite for singer-songwriters and rhythm players alike. While the SJ-200 found fame with stars like Elvis Presley and Emmylou Harris, the SJ-100 offers that same "King of the Flat-Tops" presence with a slightly more direct and punchy sonic signature. This specific Heavy Aged model features a Faded Vintage Sunburst finish that feels broken-in from the first chord, capturing the look and feel of a guitar that has been played in smoky clubs and on porch steps for nearly a century.
