About this listing
For sale is a 2002 Gibson Flying V Faded finished in Worn Cherry, in very good condition, with the rare ebony fingerboard and characteristic Crescent Moon inlays.Serial number 01512490 dates the guitar to 2002. It was made in the USA.This is one of the most distinctive early versions of the Flying V Faded. The earliest examples of this model featured the ebony fingerboard and crescent moon markers, which clearly sets them apart from later versions of the series. This guitar remains in factory specification apart from one modification to the switching system.ConstructionThe guitar features the classic mahogany Flying V body with a mahogany neck in set-neck construction. The Worn Cherry finish is thin and satin-like, allowing the wood grain to remain clearly visible. This gives the Faded series a more raw and natural appearance than standard high-gloss versions. The fingerboard is made from ebony and features the characteristic Crescent Moon inlays. The guitar features: 22 frets 24.75" scale length Ebony fingerboard Crescent Moon inlays Mahogany neck Set-neck construction Gibson 496R / 500TThe guitar is equipped with the factory humbucker set: Gibson 496R – neck Gibson 500T – bridge This is one of Gibson’s classic higher-output pickup combinations and works particularly well for heavier styles. The 500T delivers a strong, aggressive response with plenty of output, while the 496R gives the neck position a fuller and more powerful character.ElectronicsThe standard control layout includes: 2 x Volume 1 x Tone This example has one modification.A second toggle switch has been added and now serves as the pickup selector, while the original selector has been converted into a kill switch. This is the only modification to the guitar. Other than that, the instrument remains in its factory specification.Specifications Manufacturer: Gibson Model: Flying V Faded Year: 2002 Serial number: 01512490 Made in USA Finish: Worn Cherry Body: Mahogany Neck: Mahogany Set-neck construction Fingerboard: Ebony Inlays: Crescent Moon 22 frets Scale length: 24.75" Neck pickup: Gibson 496R Bridge pickup: Gibson 500T 2 x Volume 1 x Tone Added pickup selector switch Original selector converted to kill switch Tune-O-Matic bridge Stopbar tailpiece Chrome hardware Green Key-style tuners Gibson USA gig bag included ConditionThe guitar is in very good condition, especially considering its age.The Worn Cherry finish presents very well and has retained a strong, even color.
