About This Model
The MOTU MIDI Timepiece AV is a professional MIDI interface, synchronizer, and patchbay built for serious studio and live rigs. It provides 8 independent MIDI inputs and 8 independent MIDI outputs, delivering 128 MIDI channels per unit — and up to 512 channels when up to four units are networked together via its dedicated Network port. Routing and merging are fully programmable from the front panel or software, with 128 battery-backed scene memory locations for instant recall of complex setups. Synchronization is comprehensive: the unit handles SMPTE/LTC timecode generation and reading, Video Genlock, ADAT Sync, and Word Clock (including 256x Superclock for Pro Tools compatibility), making it a central timing hub for mixed digital studios. It also supports MIDI Machine Control for ADAT transport, includes Pedal A/B inputs for footswitches, and can run entirely stand-alone without a computer — useful for live performance patching without a laptop in the signal chain.
