About this listing
1962 Jazzmaster slab board, superb "player grade". I'm selling my best guitar, which will delight vintage lovers. The slab board neck is wonderfully comfortable, particularly straight, and gives this guitar a lot of sustain. It already sounds great acoustically; connoisseurs might find the bridge pickup, changed in the 80s, a little less vintage, but the entire electronics setup is perfectly matched. The guitar has been appraised three times (2018 and 2025), and was fully serviced and set up with 10-46 gauge strings in December 2025.Non-Original: The nut, jack, foam shims under the pickups, and neck shim were replaced in December 2025. One tuning machine (the classic high E string) was replaced before 1989. All these original parts are included. The bridge pickup was replaced before 1989.Most likely not original: Given its condition, the guitar has almost certainly been repainted. The heel shows a hint of another color, perhaps sunburst. It's worth noting that sunburst was the standard and most common color for guitars of that era, so it was quite common for sunburst guitars to be repainted at the factory. In any case, the refinish is very well done.Possibly not original: The neck's exceptional condition raises several questions: The back of the neck may have been refinished, unlike the headstock. It's possible it was refretted at the same time, given the near-new condition of the frets. Original neck pickup. The potentiometers are original 1961 Stackpoles. Original switches. The "candy" case is original and contains some extras besides the bridge cover, tremolo bar, strap, and original jack cable. The small instruction booklet does not have the same serial number as the guitar. THANK YOU.
