Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a very nice and rarer Turner 999 model dynamic microphone from the 1940's or 50's era complete with a desk stand in which to display.
You'll see in pic # 2 an old 1949 Turner advertisement showing specs and priced on these 40's era mics. The 999 is an omni-directional microphone that was used for general broadcasting and recording purposes.
The 99 series mic was an affordable, rugged mic with an all metal housing. It came with built in lower yoke and dynamic element. This mic had a classic style that was copied by several microphone companies from the 1930's and into the 1950's before the style faded out. These Turner models are often mistaken for the more valuable RCA models used in F.D.R fireside chats during the Great Depression as there are many similarities.
It should be noted that this 999 does still work and can be used but the output is weaker and only around 50% so it's much better used as a display piece only unless you plan on replacing the element with something better.
As seen in the pictures provided this old 999 has a very good overall finish with typical wear. The umber gray paint is free of any dents or engravings but there are a few tiny paint chips, scratches and scuffs in the paint.
The original black pop filter is present and looks perfect. The chrome screen looks great with zero dents or tarnish and the thumbscrews on the yoke look very good. The cosmetic condition I would rate a conservative 7 on a scale of 1 - 10 and the threads for both the cable and stand are perfect. Let the pictures be your guide please.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...
The stand is a vintage (but newer) model I have not seen before. It has a plastic base with short built in riser that works well for this 888 and really compliments the look of the mic having an older deco vibe.
This particular stand has very lite wear as you can see. The base have no dents, chips or fractures. Just a few lite scuff marks. Please let the detailed pictures be your guide. You'll notice that there is a metal plate incorporated into the base to give it a little weight. Mic stand with mic on top is appx 7 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide.
The 999 with it's industrial, deco look is quite stunning and will look amazing anywhere it sits in the home, office or studio. An instant conversation piece.
