Shure 545 Unidyne III 1950-70s - Silver / Black

I'm selling a Shure Unidyne III 545, an iconic vintage dynamic microphone from the American brand Shure.

Introduced in the late 1950s, the 545 is one of the microphones that have left their mark on the history of sound recording. It uses Unidyne III technology, developed by Shure, which is also found in other essential microphones like the SM57 and SM58. It thus holds a significant place in the history of professional audio equipment.

Its cardioid polar pattern prioritizes the sound source in front of the microphone while minimizing the pickup of sounds from behind. This design helps control feedback and makes it suitable for both vocals and instrument recording.

The 545 remains relevant today in the studio and on stage. It can be used to record vocals, guitars, guitar amps, snare drums, or brass instruments. Its vintage character and design also make it an interesting alternative to the Shure SM57, its predecessor, as well as the SM58 for vocal applications. In its uses, it is also comparable to the Sennheiser MD 421 or the Electro-Voice RE15, two other historical benchmarks in dynamic recording.

Beyond its historical appeal, the 545 is a true professional microphone, originally designed for demanding professional use. It will appeal to vintage gear enthusiasts as well as musicians and technicians looking for a classic Shure microphone.
