About this listing
Complete with C.O.A and original Waterloo Hard Case2019 Waterloo WL-14 XTR "Small Neck" replaces the standard large vintage V-shape with a more comfortable, lower-profile neck. A user on The Collings Forum noted that while it is not thin, it feels significantly easier to navigate.Model Breakdown: WL-14 (flagship body style), X (X-braced), TR (adjustable truss rod), and Small Neck (slimmer profile)Body & Materials: Solid spruce top with solid mahogany back, sides, and neck. [1]Dimensions: 24 7/8" scale length, 1 3/4" nut width, and 2 3/8" string spacing at the saddle. String action set at 2.7 mm for the 6th string and 2.2 mm for the 1st string at the 12th fret.Owing to the light weight of the body and the thin finish and the use of animal glue, this guitar produces a crisp, dry tone with exceptionally high volume. Effortless to play. Cosmetically as you can see in the photos there is glossing on the paint from hand resting/position, many scratches, dings and dents. There is evidence of a tiny previous crack repair along the centre seam between the neck end and the soundhole, as pictured. A small area and it's all solid. Unlike a Collings build of perfection they purposely build these with ropey animal glued bracing. It looks rough, and old and well played, but I think it looks great, but if you're looking for a case or wall queen look this might not be for you. If you're looking for a quality guitar with a playable neck profile this is for you. I've included photos and tried to highlight anything of note, the small crack, dings, scratches etc so please look.To quote from the Waterloo website..."Waterloo WL-14The WL-14 is the flagship model of the Waterloo guitar line and the inspiration that started it all. Keeping true to the design and style of the era, the WL-14 is available in "ladder" bracing (L) as well as "X" bracing (X). The ladder bracing option provides woody and open tone, with midrange honk that's perfect for fingerstyle blues. The "X" braced version retains tighter focus and balance across the tonal range. There are two different neck profiles available for the WL-14, with the standard being a sizable, vintage-inspired neck with a prominent "V" shape. For those who prefer more moderately sized necks, an alternate lower-profile option is available by request. All WL-14 models include an adjustable truss rod for convenient setup adjustment and flexibility. Hardshell TKL case included. All Waterloo models are handmade in Austin, Texas.
