A 1983 Stingray from just before the Ernie Ball era?only the joint plate has been replaced, but itfs in excellent overall condition and just arrived! This is one of the very last Pre-EB models featuring a 4-bolt joint and top-loading design. This is a transitional model that is crucial to understanding the history of the Stingray, and examples in such good condition as this one are becoming increasingly rare. The frets have likely been refretted, and there are no concerns regarding the truss rod, which is typically the weakest point. The pot dates are: Volume 13781, Treble 1378226; the Bass pot date is unreadable, but there are no signs of it having been replaced. The pickups and other electronic components have not been replaced. The body is made of ash with a sunburst finish and feels slightly heavy, while the fingerboard is rosewood.
