About this listing
For sale here we have a very rare one. It’s a scarce Pre-Historic 1956 reissue from 1990. We don’t see many pre-historics of this classic reissue. On top of that, it’s a true Yamano order which made it to Japan. Read up on the Yamano ordered guitars if you don’t already know… Yamano had a lot of sway in what guitars they got to pick due to the volume they imported from the USA to Japan from the 90’s to the mid 2000’s (a period which also coincided with some of Gibson’s finest work). It is said they had the pick of the bunch when it came to choosing the guitars they took back with them. This is one such guitar. It’s a superb pre-historic '56 Reissue. This thing has beautifully carved top. It is resonant and open and the original P-90’s sound brutal; these were Gibson’s first attempt at historically accurate 50’s P-90 replicas. The neck is worn, smooth and fast with a chunky ’50’s profile carve. Neck is dead straight, truss rod checked and functioning fine, plenty of life left in the newly polished frets, which still have their nibs. Weight is a good non-chambered 4.5kg. Condition wise there are few bumps & scratches over the body as you’d expect for 3+ decades old. The binding is nice and tight and has naturally aged to a deep yellow. No history of breaks or repairs. You get all of the great looking gentle vintage ageing with none of the bad stuff! Complete with original tan hardshell case with pink silk shroud, in fine working condition. This is a very cool old Pre-historic with all the gentle aging you could want but none of the bad or ugly stuff you usually get. It’s well along the road to being a real vintage looker. These early 90’s pre-historics are becoming very sought after today. A great looking/playing ’56 Pre Historic and a superb investment.
