About this listing
Part of a short Custom Shop run of these rare 30" scale Baritone Telecasters circa the mid-90s. Initially made and designed by Fred Stuart, these are quite rare and very difficult to find. This one is completely original with only a Stew Mac neck shim added. The guitar is like new and includes the original tweed case. The Bajo Sexto Tele is chimey, deep, clear and chords are well-defined. Pickups are very well balanced and the bridge can really scream. Neck is a 60's style C shape, 9.5 radius with plenty of room at the nut as compared to the Bass VI which can get a bit crowded toward the headstock. These were sold with 2 string sets, one for an A - A tuning, and another for an E - E. I have a few original A tuning sets (string guages are 66, 56, 46, 36, 26p, 16p) I can include. The E-E tuning set (72, 62, 52, 42, 32, 22) has a specific taper to fit in the nut. If you wish to tune this as a standard E to E like a Bass VI, you'll need to fit a new nut. This is a super fun instrument that opens a lot of playing possibilities.
