A rare selmer guitar, originally sold in 1938, in paris france, and with serial number 441. Just a little bit more than 12 frets on this fantastic guitar, apart from one crack in the top it has not been meddled with, finish worn in places but in great condition structurally. These selmers with round soundholes, of which a few have surfaced, around this serial number, have a sound typically in between a petit bouche and a d/hole. It has the best of both worlds. When played hard it effortlessly shifts into a higher gear. To my ears it really sounds like django's early recordings. the way this guitar was built points clearly to maccaferri's building technique.MM left selmer after only a few years, and these bodies were probably finished and sold a few years later wehn demand for selmers picked up.
