1920s Gibson Junior Style A-Jr Mandolin w/ Gibson HSC

For your premier viewing pleasure is this glorious Gibson Junior Style A-Jr mandolin from the early 1920s. This beauty sounds fantastic and is over 100 years old with serial # 70965 dating it to around 1922. The Junior was the cost effective, no-frills option that featured no adornments like a rosette, binding, or headstock inlay and had a plain clamshell tailpiece instead of the larger "The Gibson" engraved tailpiece seen on the other Style As offered during this time. The rest of the build quality is the same with a straight grain spruce top and maple back and sides, all in a rich brown finish that has grown ever richer over time. There's a bit of wear from use on the bass lower bout and some of the clear coat on an otherwise very clean body for an antique instrument. The original pickguard with "PAT. MAR.30.09" is intact with a chip in the top as shown with the original white copper pickguard clamp stamped "PAT JULY 4 1911" still in place. The neck is solid Honduran mahogany with an ebony fretboard. All the frets ring out clearly and the tuners function smoothly. The Gibson case is included and in excellent condition as well.
