If a normal American Standard Strat suddenly developed expensive taste, started ordering single-origin coffee, and bought a vintage leather jacket… this would be the result.This 2016 Fender Limited Edition American Standard Stratocaster pairs Fender’s proven American Standard platform with a gorgeous one-piece solid rosewood neck that gives the guitar an unmistakably classy boutique vibe. Between the dark rosewood grain, black guard, and 3-Tone Sunburst finish, this thing looks like it should come with backstage passes and an attitude problem.And unlike the average Strat that spent the last decade surviving beer showers while somebody butchered “Pride and Joy” at a sports bar… this one remains in very good condition and completely original. Sure, there are some pick scratches above the strings, light swirling on the pickguard, and a few tiny surface nicks here and there… but nothing remotely offensive. Just enough wear to prove it wasn’t owned by a museum curator wearing white gloves.The neck on this thing is especially addictive. The Modern “C” profile paired with the solid rosewood construction gives it a smooth, silky feel that somehow manages to feel both luxurious and broken-in at the same time. Tonally, the Custom Shop Fat ‘50s pickups absolutely deliver the goods too — classic Strat sparkle, chime, quack, and enough glassy top-end to make you accidentally play every Hendrix chord you know for the next 45 minutes.And visually? Good grief.
