FERNANDES RATT Warren DeMartini ST-120WM “Swords ロンドン” MIJ 1987-1988 Extremely Rare

FERNANDES ST-120WM, an extremely rare Japanese-made model inspired by Warren DeMartini’s famous “Swords ロンドン” guitar.

This model appears only in the 1987 and 1988 Fernandes catalogs, making it a very scarce and collectible piece. I could not find any previous sold listing on Reverb, so this may be one of the first examples ever offered here.

The nickname “ロンドン / London” comes from the red lettering on the body, which can be read in Japanese katakana as “ロンドン.” According to a well-known anecdote shared among guitar fans, Warren DeMartini himself reportedly did not realize it read “London” until it was pointed out to him by fans in Japan.

The VH-2 is often regarded as Fernandes’ equivalent to a Duncan JB, making this a straightforward but powerful 1980s-style rock machine.

Because this model was produced for only two years, the total production number was likely very small. Even in Japan, these surface only rarely, sometimes just once every few years. Of course, the best-known original version is the Charvel, but this Fernandes version is a fascinating and highly collectible piece in its own right for Warren DeMartini fans, 1980s shred enthusiasts, and collectors of rare Japanese guitars alike.

Condition:
Considering its age, there are minor scratches, scuffs, and picking wear throughout. There is typical wear on the maple fingerboard around the 1st fret, and some aging/discoloration in the white-painted areas of the body. However, there are no major noticeable dents, and the black hardware shows relatively little deterioration for its age. The frets are worn but do not have deep grooves, with approximately 60% remaining. There are currently no choking or major playability issues. The guitar has been fully cleaned and given a basic setup.
