Vintage (believed to be 1917) "The Gibson" L4 Oval Hole archtop acoustic....this is a very beautifully aged instrument and takes you back the the Django days when you play it...warm sophisticated tones from this model...I think the stain on the guitar is original...the overall tone is consistent over the hole body....the top has all the lacquer worn off...the back has spots where the old lacquer is crazing....do not know if the tuning knobs are original (know the white peg is replacement)...there are two screw holes just below the tuning plates...not sure if they were shifted up at one time or they are old replacements...there is a very old crack (old repair) on the back left side running length of body...there are two very old crack repairs on each side...one is about 3" long the other about 6"....these are very stable and just is part of the history of this piece...there are marks and scuffs all over consistent with its age....beautiful patina on this 100+ old guitar....the previous seller I got this from had advertised it being 1917....think this is correct or within a year...you can make out some of the writing on the label....comes with original pickguard (has some damage...I never repaired it cause I do not like to play with them attached....a July 4 1911 patent date is on the guard brace (see pic)...all binding is in tact and seamless except for two small parts on the bottom bout corners...but the binding is solid, just some roughness at the seams....vintage soft V shaped neck...not sure if all fret dots are original....I was lucky to come across a vintage Guild archtop hard case (has extra latch in back neck)...this fits like a glove...the L4's are so hard to find a case for....and these two senior citizens have been united in harmony.....may be interested in a trade for a 40's 50's Gibson J45 or J50please ask any questions....sold as is and I have tried to be as detailed as I can be....thanks for visiting my store..**Please follow my store for more unique instruments**NUT WIDTH: 1.75"SCALE LENGTH: 24.5"# OF FRETS: 20LENGTH: 38.75"UPPER BOUT WIDTH: 11.5"LOWER BOUT WIDTH: 16"DEPTH: 3.25"CASE: VINTAGE GUILD ARCHTOP CASE FITS LIKE A GLOVEI PACK ALL MY ITEMS AS IF THEY WERE STILL MY OWN
