About this listing
This 1957 Fender Princeton 5F2 Narrow Panel is a vintage 4-5 watt tube combo amplifier highly prized for its simple Class A circuit and "big box" cabinet design. Often described as a "Champ with a tone control," it delivers a harmonically rich, overdriven tone that makes it a favorite for studio recording. This particular specimen is in excellent cosmetic and operational condition featuring original tweed covering, baffle, grill, back panels, original transformers, leather handle, and an unmolested chassis which has a very clean chrome faceplate and intact silk screen graphics. Sympathetically serviced with high quality filter and bypass caps (inside the Astron covers) and a grounded power cord saving you hundreds $ and allowing for plug and play enjoyment. The original 8 inch speaker is in great cosmetic and sonic condition. Thanks for looking. This is a good one!Technical SpecificationsOutput Power: 4 to 5 watts.Circuit Design: Class A, single-ended, 5f2 circuit. Tonal Profile: It provides the "sizzle and churning overdrive" of a Fender Champ but with a fuller low end and more versatility due to the tone control.Recording Excellence: While not loud enough for most live performances, it is considered an exceptionally fine recording amplifier because it can be pushed to its "sweet spot" at manageable volume levels.Breakup: It is difficult to get a purely clean sound at higher volumes; instead, it excels at producing a touch of "crunch and bite" when played with intensity. Back off the instrument and amp volumes and clean tones are achievable and pleasing.Removed parts (cord, electrolytics, and ‘death cap’) will accompant the amp. Careful packing and insured shipping is reflected in the shipping fee. Sold as is.
