This is the Epiphone reissue from 2006, made in Qingdao — a model many collectors deliberately hunt for today.Playing-wise, the middle pickup can take a minute to get used to, because your pick may hit it at first. We lowered the middle pickup a bit so no marks would happen during testing. But sonically, the 3-pickup layout is absolutely worth it: thanks to the individual volume controls you can blend the middle pickup in smoothly and continuously — super flexible and anything but standard. Here’s the original text from the Epiphone catalog:“G-400 Custom – Authorized by Gibson USA We’ve taken this 3-pickup monster and given it even more ‘bite’ with individual bridge, middle and neck pickup volume controls to allow for infinite blending combinations!”And yes — “monster” fits. The moment you play it, you know exactly what they mean. It sounds detailed, punchy, and has serious bite. A rock machine with style. The medium-C neck feels solid in the hand. The cream binding on the fingerboard and the gold hardware give it that classic Custom look — classy, but not overly polished. It has a few signs of use, but overall it’s in very good condition. We leveled and polished the frets and gave it a full setup — now it plays clean, direct, and very comfortably.
