Electric sitar tele style with sympathetic strings Dronemaster 2023 - Olympic White

Here’s a telecaster that has been made into an electric sitar ala Coral or Danelectro. There’s a couple of key differences though. This one’s got a scalloped neck (which is closer to how an actual sitar works) you can do those crazy bendy leads. Check out the video below of it rockin.

The other difference is the pickup for the sympathetic strings is a fancy pedal steel pickup (I actually had an old Bill Laurence pickup laying around!) and it sounds huge. So unlike a lot of these toy-style sitars this one has some power to the sympathetic strings. The pot inbetween the volume and tone is a blend pot between the normal PUs and the drone strings.

The PUs look like humbuckers (and are the correct size if you ever want to replace them) but they are actually large single coil PUs from the 70s that sound nice and balance well with the drone section. Anyway if you’ve been looking for a more “playable” electric sitar here’s your new best friend.
