da HOBART, Australia
Here is a Dolnet alto saxophone, stencilled Universal, with a serial number of 56313.
All keys move and rebound freely, and all pads seal to low Bb.
Pads look good overall, but do seem a little on the thick side.
There are a few odd pads in the palm keys, as pictured.
There is a dent around the back, below the strap hook, near the post holding the bottom end of the G# key, but it does not affect playability.
The foot at the bottom of the low C key guard has come adrift.
Note, there is no front F key; no side F# key; and the low C#, B, and Bb keys are not linked to the G# key.
Nevertheless, she plays with the rich core sound, and fast, comfortable action Dolnet is renowned for.
On the whole, a pleasing vintage instrument.
Free postage via Australia Post Intl Express, with full tracking.
