Despite being fully original and circa 50 years old, there is not the slightest disturbance, crackle or noise in this device, which I guess says something about the build quality!! 

Serials 30 and 44, apparently there was a very slight color/shade change on the front plates ( which you only see from certain angles ) between the two build dates, but they are 100% the same in all other aspects.

THE SOUND: it’s absolutely gorgeous ! and actually like nothing else I know, very hard to describe without actually letting you hear it, I think if you listen to the Chandler versions and even maybe the plug-in, you will get a taste of what it’s like, but let’s call them “take away products” ( in case of the Chandler VERY good take away ) and then call the original the fresh product… they both taste great but with the fresh one you say hmmmmmmmmm while you wipe some drool from your chin. 
Terms like tight, grabby, sticky, creamy, warm, solid and glue all apply in bucket loads, You can make it pump and bounce in a VERY VERY musical way ( kind of a mix between the best UREI and NEVE compressor/limiters ) but they can also "grab and tighten up" any source in a very transparant way, for me it's a mistery how they made such a versatile device with just a few basic controls !!!
