For sale is a sequential serial # pair of recently refurbished and racked Universal Audio 1108 preamps. These are in excellent overall condition and have been racked with some useful controls and a beautiful custom faceplate that evokes the look of the UA 2108. (#'s 1204 and 1205) These preamps function beautifully as a matched pair.
The sound of these preamps is absolutely legendary and one of the most classic vintage sounds out there. It's clean and clear, but with an unmistakable weight and a touch of color behind the sound.
The rack controls include a variable 20dB pad, polarity, phantom power, and an output level control. The variable input and output really expand the capabilities of the otherwise fixed gain preamp. You can get a nice variety of coloration/saturation depending on how much padding you do on the input vs. trimming on the output. The continuous input and output controls allow for excellent matching across the whole gain range.
