The guitar is in excellent condition and has been very well cared for. It shows only minimal signs of careful use with no notable damage. It is structurally excellent and fully functional.

The MZ-1 features a quilted maple top, alder body, maple neck, and a maple fingerboard with 24 frets. Its ergonomic double-cut body, premium Japanese craftsmanship, and Wilkinson tremolo make it an outstanding instrument for everything from blues and fusion to modern rock and metal.

This example has been upgraded with a Seymour Duncan SHR-1B in the neck and a Seymour Duncan TB-6 Distortion in the bridge, replacing the original Schecter pickups. The SH-1n delivers warm, articulate cleans and smooth lead tones, while the TB-6 provides aggressive output, tight low end, and excellent definition under high gain. Together they make this a far more versatile and powerful guitar than the stock configuration.

Additional features include a Wilkinson VS100N tremolo, high-quality Japanese hardware, and a straightforward control layout with master volume, master tone, and a 3-way pickup selector, ensuring reliable performance and excellent tuning stability.

The Japanese-built MZ-1 is a relatively uncommon model that combines boutique-level build quality with modern appointments. Finished in See-Thru Blue over a figured maple top and upgraded with genuine Seymour Duncan pickups, this is an excellent choice for players looking for a premium Japanese superstrat with professional-level performance.
