Sterling brings that same philosophy to a much more accessible version here, without sacrificing the essential elements of the Petrucci DNA.The MAJ100 is a guitar that makes an immediate impression as soon as you pick it up. Its mahogany body, combined with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard, provides a solid, comfortable and particularly well-balanced feel. But it is above all the ergonomics that make the difference: the Majesty's silhouette naturally follows the contours of the body, while the set neck and sculpted heel provide absolutely remarkable access to the upper frets. The 24 frets and 16-inch radius are clearly designed for modern playing, whether you're playing precise rhythms, fast runs, legato passages or wide bends in the upper register.The electronics are equally convincing. The two ceramic humbuckers deliver an energetic and precise response, with enough definition to preserve the clarity of chords and picking dynamics, even at high gain levels. You naturally get the ability to move from precise clean tones to thick, powerful overdrive, with the articulation that is so essential to Petrucci's playing style. The three-way selector makes it easy to explore the instrument's different tonal options, while the Push-Push system with +12 dB active boost is a real asset: a simple push provides additional output, presence and impact, making it particularly useful for bringing a solo forward or hitting an amplifier harder.The floating tremolo completes the package perfectly, allowing everything from subtle vibrato effects to the much more spectacular techniques associated with progressive metal. The hardware and overall construction give this Sterling a genuine professional-instrument feel, far beyond what its price positioning might suggest.And then there is the Arctic Dream finish, which looks absolutely stunning and particularly spectacular under changing light.
