Here is a beautiful Fender Japan JM66 Jazzmaster in US Blonde, made during the later years of the original Fender Japan era.The Made in Japan U-prefix serial dates this guitar to approximately 2010–2012. Fender's own serial number guide also places MIJ U-prefix instruments in this period.The US Blonde finish and tortoise pickguard are a great combination — clean and understated at first glance, but with a distinctly vintage Fender character. The maple neck is especially nice on this particular guitar, showing attractive flame figuring that becomes more noticeable depending on the light and viewing angle. Please check the photos closely, as it is one of the details that gives this guitar its own personality.Sound-wise, this is exactly what I enjoy about a Jazzmaster.It has that dry, slightly gritty attack, with a wide and open response that feels very different from a Stratocaster or Telecaster. Chords stay clear and spread out beautifully, while the bridge pickup has that unmistakable sharp, jangly edge. The neck pickup is fuller and warmer without losing definition. It is a very characteristic Jazzmaster sound — airy, raw, and a little unruly in the best possible way.The traditional lead and rhythm circuits are both working properly, and all electronics have been tested.The original bridge saddles have been replaced with Mustang-style saddles. This is a common and practical modification on Jazzmasters, helping to keep the strings securely seated in the saddle grooves and reducing the chance of the strings jumping out during harder playing.The tremolo arm is missing and is not included.Please also note that there is some overspray on the lower part of the body. Please see photos #20 and #21 for a closer look at this area. I have tried to show the condition as clearly as possible, so please check all photos carefully before purchasing.Before listing, the guitar was thoroughly cleaned and set up.The frets have been polished, the fingerboard has been conditioned, and a fresh set of strings has been installed. The neck is currently straight, and the truss rod has adjustment room in both directions.Approximately 80% of the frets remain.Current string action at the 12th fret is approximately:Low E: 1.8 mmHigh E: 1.6 mmThe neck relief and action have been adjusted so the guitar plays comfortably without unwanted buzzing or choking.Weight is approximately 3.80 kg.A genuine Fender soft gig bag is included.This is not a museum-piece Jazzmaster, and I do not want to describe it that way. It has been played, it has some cosmetic history, and the bridge saddles have been changed. But it has been carefully cleaned, properly adjusted, and is ready to play. Most importantly, it still has that open, gritty and unmistakably Jazzmaster character that makes these guitars so much fun to pick up.
