Video: Friedman's IR-D Is a High-Gain Tube Rig, in a Box

Like last year's best-selling IR-X, the new Friedman IR-D could be called an "all-tube preamp" with versatile IR cab and power amp simulation, or a "tube-powered direct solution" for short, but perhaps it's best to put it like this: It's like a meticulously designed Friedman amp rig from the renowned builder, but compact enough to fit on a pedalboard.

The new IR-D is based on Friedman's Dirty Shirley/Twin Sister circuits, which included his own modifications of a Marshall JTM45. So if high-gain British tone is what you're after, the IR-D offers it in spades, thanks to two high-voltage 12AX7 preamp tubes, two independent channels, and enough DSP IR cabs, power amp sims, a emulated mics to match an array of classic setups and configurations, bringing studio-grade sound to any gig.
