Mutable Instruments' Clouds has been one of the most popular Eurorack modules since its release in 2014, falling into the top 10 synth modules sold in Reverb even in 2020, six years later.
This year, Mutable Instruments has released its successor: Beads. (A plan even Gob Bluth can get behind it.)
Like Clouds, Beads is a granular texture synthesizer, which can take audio in, break it down into its constituent parts, and then modulate it with its own built-in modulators, with no external CV necessary (though of course, that works too).
In our video above, Fess Grandiose shows you just a bit of what's possible with the module, while taking you through different ways you can use it: as a delay, reverb, pitch shifter, beat repeater, as a wavetable oscillator, or even as a karplus strong synthesizer.
