Made in 2006, this is a masterpiece personally aged by Gibson’s legendary luthier Tom Murphy during the early 2000s. Unlike the modern Murphy Lab series, which is mass-produced by the Custom Shop team, these early Tom Murphy hand-aged models from the early 2000s to 2006 feature a unique ultra-thin lacquer finish, enhancing resonance, refining the aging details, and offering a truly distinctive feel.This guitar is crafted with a select mahogany body, a flame maple top, and a Madagascar rosewood fingerboard. It features a '59 Neck Profile and comes equipped with factory Burstbucker PAF pickups and Gibson Bumblebee capacitors. A defining characteristic of this era is the use of carefully selected Madagascar rosewood for the fingerboard. Its grain pattern closely resembles Brazilian rosewood, offering outstanding midrange tones along with a clean and articulate sound. Due to its scarcity, Madagascar rosewood is now rarely seen on modern guitars.The guitar is in 90% overall condition, with the frets at approximately 80%. It exhibits the original Tom Murphy aging along with minor signs of use.This is one of the most investment-worthy models from Tom Murphy. His personally aged works are now discontinued and hold significant historical value in Gibson’s reissue lineup.
