As the very first LP model with the coveted humbucker configuration and resonant ABR/stopbar combination, the 1957 Les Paul marks the beginning of the most successful LP era and remains as true to the original as never before in this authentic recreation. The ageing process of the Gibson Murphy Lab should also be mentioned here, which gives the 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Light Aged its unmistakable charm both visually and haptically. Basic construction with hide glue and long neck tenonOnly original work steps and materials are used as the basis for this Goldtop Reissue. Accordingly, the body is made from a solid piece of mahogany with a two-piece glued maple top. Here the Gibson Custom Shop historically correct Hide Glue, which promises glass-hard glue joints for additional resonance. The long glued neck heel also promotes Sustain and response and is an important guarantee for the basic tonal character of the 1957 Les Paul. Hand-wound Custom Bucker humbucker with Alnico III magnetsFor sound conversion on the amplifier, Gibson skillfully recreates the sound of the legendary Patent-Applied-For humbucker of the 1950s with the custom bucker pickups hand-wound in the Custom store. The dual coilers are unwaxed like the originals and impress with their classic Alnico warmth, while high-quality premium components such as Paper-in-Oil capacitors, CTS potentiometers and additional Hardware from Switchcraft ensure first-class signal transmission and the classic response when the volume and tone controls are operated. Ultra Light Aged Goldtop finishThe Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Ultra Light Aged represents the finish option available for the Goldtop at the time and recreates the lacquer texture of the nitro lacquer used at the time in an extremely detailed way. None other than ageing legend Tom Murphy and his team of experts at the Murphy Lab, who carefully analyzed the composition of the nitro lacquer used on early Les Paul models over the years, were used for this purpose. The concentrated know-how can now be found in the Light Aged treatment of this 1957 Les Paul Goldtop.
