About this listing
Up for sale is a vintage Fender P-J electric bass guitar. This one was just checked out in our store and is ready to play. It has newer D'addario round wound strings on it. The bass is very rare in that it has a what we believe is a factory installed Kahler tremolo bridge. This could be expected considering the popularity of Billy Sheehan and Fender Japan's use of Kahler parts and bridges during this time period. The bass comes in a very cool Jade Pearl Metallic finish. At some point in its life, this bass had the original passive pickups exchanged for EMG active ones. As you can see in the pictures, this bass has three thin shims in the neck pocket. It was common practice for Fender to use shims back in the day and these were obviously put there to compensate for the taller Kahler tremolo. The neck is nice and straight and the frets are in good condition. There are plenty of small dings and scratches as might be expected on a 40+ year old bass but structurally, the bass is solid. This was made in Japan in the mid 1980's, 1985-1986, serial number A002039. It includes the original tremolo bar and decent older Fender style hard shell case. The latches on the case work but the springs are worn. Check out the pictures for the condition. I have a few more pictures, but Reverb limits me to 25, so if you need to see something, let me know, and I can message you.
