This EVH ‘78 Eruption Relic Artist Proof Prototype (serial # 61071) was made by Charvel/Jackson Custom Shop.

Charvel/Jackson Custom Shop, in conjunction with EVH Gear, made several prototype examples that were examined and played by Edward Van Halen as a template for the limited edition run of this iconic instrument. It has the look and feel of the original one that Edward made when Van Halen was selling out clubs throughout Southern California in the late 1970’s.

EVH ‘78 ERUPTION RELIC On the cover of Van Halen’s 1978 eponymous debut album, Eddie Van Halen thrusts his black-and-white striped instrument towards the camera as if he’s showing you the future. He played this guitar on his unprecedented and mind-blowing instrumental track “Eruption”, hence its nickname, and almost immediately, this monumental instrument became a timeless icon, symbolic of a paradigm shift in guitar-driven rock and roll.
