Like all coveted pedals from the famous pedal manufacturer from the USA, the UltraViolet also impresses with its powerful processing power, particularly versatile setting options and professional sound quality. In addition, there are numerous connections on board that allow the smart pedal to interact with a wide range of different devices and provide extended control options.Powerful ARM processor & Class A JFET preampDespite its authentic sound, reminiscent of vintage Japanese effects pedals from the 1970s, the UltraViolet has a modern ARM processor under its hood. This chip, familiar from numerous high-performance laptops and smartphones, allows the pedal to process a wide variety of processes simultaneously in order to reproduce the desired sounds both faithfully and completely latency-free. The low-noise Class A JFET preamp in the input section also plays a role that should not be underestimated.Classic control with interesting additional optionsIn contrast to many other modern effect pedals, the Strymon UltraViolet offers a straightforward user interface consisting of three controls and two additional switches. The three controls Speed, Intensity and Volume determine the speed and amplitude of the LFO as well as the output volume of the pedal. Three mixing ratios of dry and wet signal are available via the mode switch: 50/50 in chorus mode, 70/30 in blend mode and the pure wet signal when the switch is set to vibrato. Additional settings for the LFO curve can be called up using the bias switch.Stereo connections, EXP/MIDI and USBThe various connections of the Strymon UltraViolet are located on the front. The input and output sockets can be operated in both mono and stereo, allowing the pedal to be used with a wide range of different instruments. There is also another connection for real-time control of individual parameters via an expression pedal or integration into MIDI setups. This is also possible via the USB-C connection, which can also be used for firmware updates and to access Strymon's Nixie Editor/Librarian software.
