Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour Signature Stratocaster Relic “Black Strat” - UNPLAYED - Early Production - Complete Collector’s Set, Sealed Signed Book!An exceptionally preserved first-year Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour Signature Stratocaster Relic, serial R42806, offered with its complete original collector’s package, including a factory-sealed signed edition of Phil Taylor’s The Black Strat book.Unworn frets, unused accessories, original packaging and factory protective film still present on the case handles and latches make this a particularly compelling example for the collector who values preservation and completeness.EARLY 2008 EXAMPLE - SERIAL R42806This instrument carries serial number R42806 and a September 9, 2008 neck date, documented during a professional inspection by a luthier to verify authenticity. Its model and original specifications were also confirmed by Fender Consumer Relations using serial number R42806.Among the sold and currently advertised examples I personally researched, I did not encounter a lower serial number; the examples I found carried R43xxx or higher numbers. The September 9, 2008 neck date, low serial number and accompanying signed-edition book together strongly support this example’s association with Fender’s first-500 promotional offering.EXCEPTIONAL PRESERVATION - UNPLAYEDPreserved in unplayed condition, with no visible fret wear or signs of use beyond the intentional factory Relic treatment. A professional luthier inspected the instrument to verify authenticity and performed a functional check and light setup, including intonation adjustment, in preparation for sale. All pickups, electronics and hardware are original.FACTORY-SEALED SIGNED EDITION - THE BLACK STRATA highlight of this package is the factory-sealed limited signed edition of Phil Taylor’s The Black Strat book.Fender’s original promotional specification stated that the first 500 guitars sold across the NOS and Relic finish options would include a limited edition of the book autographed by author Phil Taylor, David Gilmour’s longtime guitar technician. The book remains sealed and has not been opened to photograph the signature.COMPLETE ORIGINAL PACKAGEIncluded with the guitar:• Original David Gilmour signature hardshell case with green crushed-velvet interior and embroidered logos• Original factory protective film still intact on the case handles and latches• Original outer box• Original Certificate of Authenticity• Original documentation and hangtags• Original leather strap marked “Exclusive by DG”• Original Evidence Audio cable• Original strings and polishing cloth• Factory-sealed limited signed edition of Phil Taylor’s The Black Strat book• Original Live in Gdańsk CD/DVD packageTHE BLACK STRAT SOUNDThe signature pickup configuration combines a Custom Hand-Wound Fat ’50s neck pickup, a custom-wound single-coil middle pickup and the celebrated Seymour Duncan SSL-5 bridge pickup. This combination delivers expressive Stratocaster cleans, articulate in-between sounds and a stronger, fuller bridge voice for singing lead tones.
