Vintage 1954 Fender Tweed Champ 5D1 Wide Panel Clean USA Amplifier Combo *1950s*This is by far the cleanest Tweed Champ you'll ever find! I found this stunner sat in the corner of a store in Florida last year, and just couldn't refuse bringing it back with me. It's an original 1954 'Wide Panel' Tweed Champ, model 5D1. It is fully original including the Cletron speaker, and in wonderful working order. Aside from the 6V6 being a newer Sovtek example, the other valves are all original. It's a stupidly cool amplifier with an incredible history - don't miss out! Please see the pictures for more information as these form part of my description. Offers welcome on this one!

Overview

The Fender Champ evolved out of the Champion 600 and 800 which launched in the late '40s. Originally, the Champ was a tweed-covered 4 watt amp with a 6-inch speaker. All of these details would evolved during its production run, with a switch to a black cover coming in 1964. 

Years of Production: 1953 - 1982

Unique to this Era: In 1955, transition made from wide to narrow-panel cabinet with smaller panels above and below the speaker grill. Pictured amp has wide-panel design, and is known as the 5D1.
