About this listing
The Collings D1A is one of the many Collings guitars that make the heart beat faster! The 14-fret dreadnought is the world's most popular body shape for a steel-string acoustic guitar. While Collings is certainly not the only builder producing this model, they achieve a level of clarity, depth, and warmth that few builders can match. The powerful bass response makes this dreadnought exceptionally well suited for vocal accompaniment, but Collings dreadnoughts are also a favorite among bluegrass flatpickers who need to compete with naturally louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. Although the strong bass response makes this dreadnought perfect for accompanying vocals, a Collings dreadnought is sure to satisfy even the most discerning bluegrass flatpicker. The Collings D1A features an Adirondack spruce top rather than Sitka spruce, making it a true bluegrass machine. Adirondack spruce offers greater volume, a wider dynamic range, and more clarity than Sitka spruce, projecting with tremendous power. These pre-war characteristics give the instrument additional headroom across the entire tonal spectrum, making the guitar not only impressive to behold, but also exhilarating to play. This Collings was built in 2015 and is in excellent condition. The guitar shows some playwear in the form of a few dents and scratches. Most notably, there are signs of play and use on the top and on the bass side of the body. Nevertheless, the guitar presents very clean overall. It comes in a TKL hardshell case with TFOA Passport. This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition, and playability and professionally set up by a luthier according to our Gold Standard setup. We make sure it arrives at your home exactly as it should: sounding perfect, playing effortlessly, and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.photos of: Actual Instrument
