Regenerate Mode sents SMPTE OUT in sync with SMPTE IN. It lets you make clean copies of SMPTE encoded signals since muxing and demuxing the raw SMPTE signals cause degradation.
User bits: when you encode SMPTE using the Timecode Machine, you can insert some bits... It's safe to ignore it.
Full Messages: Each time the Timecode Machine gets synced it sends a Full Message. If it loses sync and regains it, it will send another full message. Its usually used to track how many times you lose sync.
Now if you want to generate SMPTE you have to send some raw data through the MIDI bus to the device.
The steps are:
Stops any tape sync process and prevent it from starting to sync while waiting for a generate command.
F0 F7
Next is a MIDI Time Code Full Message and indiciates the first SMPTE time
to be generated. The hours byte (hh) contains the desired SMPTE format
encoded in the two highest of the seven lowest bits (See MIDI Time Code specification)
F0 7F 7F 01 01 hh mm ss ff F7
Optionally you can encode user bits (70 bits / 10 7-bit bytes worth) .

Then to start the SMPTE generation

After you're done, to stop the SMPTE generation
