Sequential

Sequential, formerly known as Sequential Circuits, is one of the names for synthesizers. Founded by Dave Smith, a pioneer in the field and the co-inventor of MIDI, Sequential Circuits created some of the most impressive analog synthesizers of its time. The Prophet-5, first introduced in 1978, was the first fully-programmable polysynth, used on countless recordings, whether rock, funk, and fusion then, or electronic and hip-hop music to this day. In the late '80s, the brand went through changes and eventually went dormant. Dave Smith went on to make incredible gear under the Dave Smith Instruments (DSI) brand. Since 2018, the company has reclaimed its rightful name, Sequential, and is continuing to make classics from across its history (including new versions of the Prophet-5) and brand-new synths like the Pro 3, Prophet desktops, and the OB-6, a collaboration with Oberheim.
