At its heart is the mid-rich overdrive sound, which continues to utilise a JRC NJM4558 op-amp. The circuit has been reworked using high-quality components and features, amongst other things , MOGAMI OFC cable (AWG21) for the internal wiring. In addition, the TS808HWV2 features a modified output stage, which allows for a maximum output level increased by 6 dB, thereby providing additional headroom for use as a boost. Sound control is still handled via the classic Overdrive, Tone and Level controls, whilst a true bypass switch routes the signal directly when the pedal is switched off. Manufactured in Japan, the pedal can be powered either by a 9 V battery or an external 9–18 V DC power supply with negative polarity. The revised enclosure design retains the traditional shape of the Tube Screamer.
