About this listing
Classic Hiwatt amp. Sticker dates to June 26, 1975. This amplifier has just been given a comprehensive 'once in a lifetime' service. And should be good to go for another few decades. Not sure what I can say about this amp. Only a Hiwatt can do what a Hiwatt does. If you are looking for one, you already know. Condition is good. See photos for physical condition. There is some tolex wear. In some spots where the tolex has worn away, the wood has been darkened with ink, mainly the front bottom lip. See photos. It looks great at arms length and pretty good up close. Keeping it classy looking while maintaining the road worm charm. The tubes are a brand new quad of JJ EL34. The preamp tubes are vintage. For the 12AX7's, Sylvania branded labelled Great Britain, may be original to the amp. For the phase inverter, a vintage Mullard made in UK. The transformers are Hammond. Tough to date them, but based on other examples I have seen, they appear to be approximately the same vintage as the amp. The voltage selector has been disconnected, this amp is hard wired for 120V, North American power. A great sounding example of a Hiwatt! Whoever gets it will be happy. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thank you!Recently serviced which included:- All new electrolytic capacitors (F&T & Kemet filter caps, made in Germany & Poland)- New pilot light (From UK company - very close match to original)- New power switches (Bulgin/Arcoelectric - UK company)- New IEC socket (Bulgin - in original hole)- Four new potentiometers (Alpha)- New input jacks (Cliff UK)- New quad of power tubes (JJ)- New feet on bottom of cabinet- Logo and faceplate are new reproductions
