IK Multimedia has just unveiled the new AmpliTube TONEX Pedal—a full-featured stompbox that puts the brand's TONEX software into a pedalboard- and gig-friendly format.
The new pedal gives players over 1,000 tone models from the TONEX MAX software to choose from and allows players to install up to 150 of them onto the pedal itself via USB. Players can easily recall them using the Bank Up or Bank Down controls on the pedal and also organize, edit, and arrange them via the TONEX Librarian feature.
If you're already really happy with your physical rig, the TONEX pedal is still for you. It features IK Multimedia's AI Machine Modeling software, which lets players model nearly anything from their own rig—pedals, amps, and cabs.
The software works by analyzing a prepared guitar track and using deep machine learning to create a Tone Model based on those sounds. In the video above, Andy demonstrates how dynamic these sims can get, showing how drastically your sound can change just by swapping a cab or changing the figurative mic position.
While there's a lot you can do with the software, the new AmpliTube TONEX Pedal likewise features a wealth of excellent onboard controls that allow players to dial in anything they might need for performance. Five dual-function control knobs control both Standard Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, and Volume as well as Reverb, Compressor, Noise Gate, Presence, and Depth. Existing fans of IK Multimedia pedals will also be glad to hear that the new AmpliTube TONEX Pedal features five reverb models copied from the brand's AmpliTube X-Space Reverb pedal.
The IK Multimedia AmpliTude TONEX Pedal is officially available now on Reverb for $399 USD. Be sure to check out the full video above to hear it in action and see more of what this pedal can do.
