2010 Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Stratocaster – Cherry Sunburst, Rosewood Fingerboard | S/N: CZ515919
The Custom Shop Deluxe Stratocaster was Fender's answer to a simple question: what would a Strat look like if the Custom Shop took a modern player's brief seriously? The result was a guitar that looks fairly understated from the outside but has a lot going on — quality wood selection, a genuinely great pickup configuration, and a handful of player-friendly updates that make it more versatile than a straight vintage-spec build.
The Cherry Sunburst finish means this one has an ash body — Fender reserved ash for the sunburst colorways on this model, and it shows in the tone: a bit more snap and brightness than alder, with a nice open resonance. The neck is lightly flamed maple with a '65 C profile and a dark Indian rosewood board with rolled edges — a small detail that makes a real difference in how the guitar feels in the hand after a few hours. 2010 puts this squarely in the nitro era, before Fender switched to urethane on the Deluxe line.
Pickup-wise it's the classic '69/Texas Special split: two Custom Shop '69 single-coils in the neck and middle (reverse-wound middle for hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4), with a Texas Special in the bridge for a bit more bite and output. Add in the no-load tone control and you've got a wide tonal range from one guitar. Two-point tremolo, staggered locking tuners, and strap locks round things out.
Guitar is in good condition with normal play wear for its age. Frets have plenty of life left.
