Coleman Audio CA500M mastering EQ
High-end mastering-grade equalizer designed by the late Coleman, who has a record of exceptionnal gear and this EQ is no exception.
Based on the MCI JH-500 console EQ (that he designed), but with 0.5 and 1 dB increments to suit mastering needs.
It is a real mastering grade EQ will all the goodies :
- Custom-wound inductors, specifically designed for the CA500M
- Grayhill stepped rotary switches for precise, repeatable frequency and gain selection
- Discrete, high-quality signal path optimized for mastering applications
- Relay-based hard bypass
- Excellent phase integrity and stereo accuracy
- Extremely low noise floor
- Continuously variable HPF
I'd place this EQ in a shootout with a Massive Passive anyday. It is just that good.
Works equally great as a mono track EQ, where you can use both channels for a 8 bands EQ.
This units were hand-made by Coleman himself, and there aren't many around (probably around 20). My unit is serial #3, and in great condition.
