One of the rarest basses you'll find. It's a documented pre-production prototype Dan Armstrong Bass built in 1967. On this prototype, the bridge, routing, and cutaways are different. It also has a different pickup recess and mounting format and has a flange at the pickup. It even appears to have been wired from the factory incorrectly. As such, it has not been touched to preserve the bass in its original form.

This bass came to The Bass Shop by way of Kebo's Bass Works. Our new retail alliance with them means you'll be seeing some great used and vintage basses come through The Shop on a regular basis. Here's what Kevin Borden, verification guru at Kebo's, has to say about this bass:

"DOCUMENTED as pre-production / prototype or one of the earliest ever made! Has features I’ve NEVER seen in 37 years in the bass world. All of these prototype features are in the documentation! First of it has the prototype case. The bass has different pickup recess and mounting format. It has the flange at the pick up. The bridge and routing are different, the cut-aways are different.

The guard is different and it has the unbelievably rare large side markers! Everything is original and we believe the bass was wired incorrectly from the factory – we’re not touching it. WOW this is a rare bird!"
